Further Information
StruM.I.S .NET Estimating
This powerful estimating tool is designed specifically to meet the needs of estimators in the structural steelwork industry. Part of the complete StruM.I.S .NET fabrication information and management system, StruM.I.S .NET Estimating is a major component of this total modular solution.
Built using the very latest software technology (Microsoft .NET), StruM.I.S .NET Estimating enables rapid production of detailed cost estimates to suit a number of different pricing methodologies, including drawing take-off, bill of quantities and unit pricing. Specifically for the structural steel industry and designed by industry experienced professionals, StruM.I.S .NET Estimating enables precise estimating for all the costs associated with a steelwork project. With integrated video tutorials and intuitive workflow StruM.I.S .NET is both simple to implement and easy to use.
Enquiries
Customer enquiries can be recorded and then assigned to estimators for tender purposes. There is provision to log contact details such as multiple addresses, telephone, email and fax numbers as well as construction specific information such as Designers and Engineers. The powerful search grid allows you to group and report on the stored information in many ways. For example; list the jobs won this month, by building type, tonnage and sales area.
Estimate Take off
This is the core estimating module where you define the pricing methodology to be used and enter the material requirements. This is done quickly and easily by utilising an in-built library of standard steel products; which includes weights, dimension properties and surface areas. Material can be entered according to usage i.e. Beam, Column and then priced using Mills or Stockholder rates. Free typed items can be listed directly onto the estimate and there is also the facility to include items from a user-defined non-steel library.
CAD Interfaces
This allows the material requirements list to be imported from other systems including steel detailing and design programs such as StruCad as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.
Cost Extras
Calculation based cost extras can be defined or selected from default libraries for use on all estimates. This provides a great deal of standardisation and accuracy in estimate production and enables a material list to be quickly turned into a finished quote. Cost extra calculations include hours/tonne, rate/tonne, rate/sq.m, rate/day etc.
Labour database
The labour database can be used to bring an increased level of accuracy to rate/tonne or hour/tonne fabrication labour calculations. Rather than applying a blanket rate to the whole project, the labour database allows for fabrication times and costs to be calculated based on the dimensions of an individual section and its use in the project.
Standard Fittings
It is possible to predefine fittings that will automatically scale themselves according to the members they are attached to. This provides a quick and very accurate way of calculating the fitting costs and weight for a contract.
Auto-Cut Engine
The Auto-Cut system is an automated nesting/optimisation tool that calculates the most efficient way of cutting the requirements list from available material lengths. The results are a nested cutting plan, a list of required supplier lengths and a cost, weight and percentage allowance for material waste.
Standard Features
StruM.I.S is fully multilingual and can dynamically flip between metric and imperial units. The user interface can be adjusted to suit user preference; including multiple or tabbed window displays, docked, floating or fly-out menu bars and a recently used list. It is possible to store external attachments such as documents against system objects (e.g. an estimate). Information displayed in grids can be sorted, grouped, totalled and even printed and exported. As well as the many in-built system reports there is a report designer to enable you to create custom reports.
