StruCad - the Worlds leading 3D structural steel detailing system
StruCad provides an innovative solution to the requirements of structural engineers, detailers, fabricators, erectors and project management teams. StruCad is designed to integrate fully with recognized standards in software and hardware. Using the freeware version of StruCad called StruWalker, clients, engineers, and architects are able to view the project at anytime, anywhere.
StruCad produces automatic drawings with a wide range of accuracy. The advanced modeling technology allows structures to be created with speed and accuracy.
StruCad includes a comprehensive library of connection types that consists of industry standards as well as specialized connections. The powerful library functions enable the user to produce detailed estimates from StruCad models in a very short time frame.
StruCad also automates the process of steelwork detailing via a comprehensive range of parametric connection macros. These macros speed up the process of building connections by automatically selecting and modeling appropriate joint components to suit member size and orientation.
ACL Structural Group
Established in 1998 in British Columbia, Canada, ACL has come to develop a strong reputation for their quality, reliability and management of project schedules in the North American Steel Fabrication Industry. Co-founders Alden Prier and Cory LePage, have consistently achieved their business goals with extensive use of AceCad Software’s steel detailing system, StruCad.
After years of success, ACL now has three offices across Canada. Their offices are located in Osoyoos, BC, Sylvan Lake, Alberta and Moncton, New Brunswick. The power of StruCad combined with today’s global internet communications has convinced ACL to extend outside North America and establish American and India operations in early 2008.
StruCad, by AceCad Software, has always been ACL’s competitive weapon in their constant effort to increase quality and productivity, lower training costs, and lower labor costs. ACL has structured their entire company around the StruCad system and implemented customized in-house training programs and software development. ACL is currently involved in some of North America’s largest projects with total project price tags in the $10-20 billion dollars.
Today ACL has 24 full licenses of StruCad through AceCad Software Inc. and is one of many major customers in North America. Since the early days ACL have purchased full licenses of StruCad to facilitate the growth and expansion of their business.

ACL employs a team of detailers, checkers and project managers and are proud of both training new recruits direct from college and converting experienced detailers to StruCad. With a growing team coupled with the power of StruCad they are now able to complete projects that are over 10,000 tons with the average project in the 300 to 2000 ton range. StruCad delivers flexibility and ACL is able to deliver light commercial to heavy industrial projects including all miscellaneous stairs, handrails, grating and plate work.

Some of the features they provide to their clients are pre-detailing of the project in either 2D or 3D, automated steel detailing, material reporting for all forms of standard and customized materials, rendered 3D models, and Requests for Information at the earliest possible stage of the project.
